About

I believe that trumpet technique must be built around the individual player. No two embouchures are identical, and effective development requires an understanding of anatomical differences, airflow direction, tongue position, and structural balance.

My approach is rooted in identifying whether a player functions as an upstream or downstream embouchure type and tailoring exercises accordingly. This creates a clear roadmap for efficient, sustainable progress without unnecessary tension or confusion.

Who I Work With

I work with amateur and professional trumpet players who:

– Struggle with range, endurance or consistency

– Feel stuck despite years of practice

– Experience tension and fatigue

– Want a more structured technical roadmap

What Makes This Approach Different

Many trumpet methods promote a one-size-fits-all philosophy. My work is based on the understanding that anatomical differences require individualized technical solutions.

By analyzing your embouchure type and physical structure, we eliminate guesswork and replace it with clarity, precision and long-term sustainability.

I’m a Stockholm-based jazz trumpet player and embouchure specialist dedicated to helping musicians develop greater control, range, and consistency through technique tailored to their individual physiology.

Below you’ll find more about my background, training, and the principles that shape my teaching approach.

Experience

For the past ten years, I have worked professionally as a jazz musician based in Stockholm, Sweden. During this time, I have performed with many of the city’s most respected musicians, including Peter Asplund Blue Jazz Orchestra, toured with various small jazz ensembles, and appeared regularly at leading jazz venues throughout Stockholm.

I have also worked with American trumpet virtuoso Adam Rapa during my time living in the Netherlands.

Alongside my performing career, I have maintained an active teaching practice, working both in schools and with private students.

Background

After graduating from the Royal College of Music with a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Studies, I reached a turning point in my career. I realized that the playing style and technique that had brought me this far were not sufficient for the demands of the professional market.

For several years, I struggled with technical limitations — particularly in range and consistency. This period led me into a deep and focused exploration of trumpet technique, where my sole priority became understanding how to achieve the level of control and freedom I was aiming for.

I spent countless hours studying the world’s leading trumpet players, analyzing their sound, efficiency, and approach to embouchure. What began as a personal necessity gradually developed into a broader interest in the mechanics of trumpet technique and embouchure development.

As my own playing transformed, other musicians began reaching out for guidance. I started working with local trumpet players and colleagues who faced similar challenges, and I discovered that the insights I had gained could help others achieve measurable improvement as well.

Expertise

My work focuses on embouchure mechanics and the anatomical differences that influence how each individual achieves optimal tone, range, and efficiency.

Through years of research and practical application, I have observed that technical approaches that work exceptionally well for one player can be ineffective—or even counterproductive—for another. Anatomical factors such as jaw structure, teeth alignment, lip proportions, and tongue position significantly affect how sound production functions.

In trumpet pedagogy, many common concepts emphasize airflow alone, while overlooking the precise mechanics of embouchure formation, mouthpiece placement, tongue positioning, and pivot coordination. When these variables are not adapted to the individual, progress can become unnecessarily difficult.

Although players may arrive at similar musical results through different physical setups, there are identifiable structural patterns that allow us to tailor technique development to the individual. One foundational distinction is between “upstream” and “downstream” embouchure types.

Identifying your natural embouchure category is one of the first steps in my coaching process, providing a clear and efficient roadmap for long-term technical development.
